Utilising ordinary drilling mud, the user-operated HyPR jetting
dart can cut through a full strength sub in less than two hours. Drilling
engineers have the option of using either a cementing dart which
allows for rapid side-tracking after cementing operations or if an
attempt to fish the BHA is preferred, a fishing dart can be pumped
down, leaving a clean box to fish once the dart has cut the string free.
The compatibility of the DAV MX CircSub and the HyPR HoleSaver
creates an enhanced contingency recovery system for downhole
operations giving operators peace of mind that the drilling schedule
can continue in even the most demanding of circumstances.
The DAV 2016 features an upgraded compendium containing
many new applications such as regaining circulation when
packed-off, differential sticking and displacement to lighter fluids in a
tapered string.
The versatility, speed and efficiency of this system has enabled
users to overcome many challenges often encountered with
traditional bypass methods. With a successful record of deployment
(approaching 1000 runs in 2016), the product is changing the way
many applications are being approached.
Summary
Dart activated valves and mechanical extrusion offer performance
benefits over conventional ball activated systems. The rapid
adoption of this new technology in the marketplace demonstrates
the premium that operators place on reliability and innovation.
Traditional ball activated systems represent an obsolete technology
– unable to compete either on operational dependability or speed of
activation. Mechanical extrusion is the most cost-effective answer to
virtually any pre-planned or contingency circulating application.
